The descent from a mountain is always a special experience. While the will to reach the summit drives my steps, the descent is also accompanied by the breath I've already taken, the scenery, and the inner resonance. Yesterday was no exception. As I slowly descended the mountain, catching my breath, I unexpectedly ran into members of my community. It was an unexpected encounter, and that made it all the more surprising and delightful. We exchanged greetings, confirming that we were on the same mountain, in the same time. But that moment was a signal that sent ripples deep within me.
I was certain that my life was flowing smoothly and gently. Like water flowing gently along a river, without any meandering, my daily life followed a natural rhythm. But the way they appeared to me was different. Their elaborate attire, their bright smiles, their bustling movements within the community. But beyond that glamour, I saw an inexplicable emptiness and loneliness. It wasn't a superficial expression or tone of voice, but a resonance, a resonance intuitively sensed by a deep sense within me.
Isn't this how modern people live? Surrounded by relationships yet isolated, participating in countless gatherings yet unable to escape the feeling of being alone. Even women who seem to be part of a group harbor a shadow of loneliness beneath. They laugh and converse among others, yet the emptiness and silence they encounter on their way home are always there. I, too, know this feeling well. Perhaps that's why yesterday, I could sense a quiet loneliness swaying beneath their laughter.
At that moment, I realized. That was exactly what I had to do. Witnessing the loneliness of modern people, isolated even within the community, I knew my job was to awaken them to the reality that they were not alone. This sentence was a truth that welled up within me, a mission I was reaffirmed by that encounter.
The meditation I practice isn't simply closing my eyes and breathing calmly. It's an act of inviting light. When that metaphorical light, intangible yet undeniably present, descends from on high, and passes through my body, I'm no longer alone. A warm energy radiating from deep within, a feeling you might call bliss, awakens the spiritual within me. And I know that this light isn't just for me, but for everyone. I want to share this light with those who are lonely, who feel isolated. Without words, without forcing a hand, the light naturally seeps in, whispering, "You are not alone."
We all come alone, and ultimately, we leave alone. However, if we can share the suffering of those we meet along the way, and lighten their burdens, even for a moment, that would be the greatest virtue a human being can achieve. Perhaps the path I must walk is to spread this truth. My meditation should not be limited to personal healing, but should extend to soothing the loneliness of modern life.
That chance encounter on the mountain path yesterday was a quiet hint from the Divine. It was a sign that reminded me of the path I must take, the task I must fulfill. So, today, I am confident: my meditation is about reaching out to others through light, and that light will be a guide that breaks the isolation of our hearts and allows us to see that we are connected.
I no longer hesitate. My mission is clear: to reach out to those who are isolated and convey the message, "You are not alone." Along the way, I believe I can transform even my own loneliness into virtue.
