The morning sunlight gently tapped against the window, seeping into the room. The moment I opened my eyes, I felt a sense of calm, a sense of ease, a sense of calm enveloping me. Within that calmness lay the stillness and measured breathing I'd cultivated throughout the previous day. Studying, exercising, and spending time alone, like drawing clear spring water from an ancient forest, purified my mind. I realized that time spent alone was a journey of healing, and that this journey opened me up to people and the world.
This morning's meditation naturally continued that realization. With each breath, a clear space opened deep within my heart, and the stillness within me gently flowed out into the world. In that moment, a prayer welled up from my heart, not from my own mind. It wasn't just for myself, but for those lost in confusion and suffering. Thinking of the people of a country groaning in the midst of war and conflict, I fervently prayed that their tears would be purified, that the light of hope would shine upon their lives.
Prayer was a flow beyond words. Even without forming sentences in my head, the compassion welling up within me flowed out like a river of light. It was as if a small light had been lit in the center of my heart, its light gradually expanding and spreading into the sky. That light was a real sensation, clearly felt in meditation. It became a warmth that enveloped my body, and it permeated the room like a fragrance carried with every breath.
At that moment, I realized that my prayer wasn't isolated, but connected to the prayers already flowing from the hearts of countless others. There are still kind and compassionate people in the world, people who sacrifice themselves to protect others. I could sense their warm prayers slowly illuminating the darkness of this world. I believed that my small prayer, too, would join that stream of light, perhaps reaching someone I didn't even know, offering comfort and hope.
The sensation rising within me was clear and vivid. It was as if a gentle beam of light descended from on high, gently enveloping my shoulders and chest, its light penetrating deep within me. This light comforted and healed me, and at the same time, it flowed beyond me into prayer for others. As compassion blossomed within me, it was no longer a personal emotion, but expanded into a universal force connecting with the world.
In this flow, I suddenly realized that each path I walk isn't just a set of footsteps, but a trail of light. The truth that my attitude toward life each day isn't just mine, but can spread like ripples throughout the world. Shouldn't my life then be a festival? Not a festival filled with mere joy, but a festival where we embrace each other's wounds and encourage each other's light? My prayer was a pledge of devotion to that very festival.
What remained where the prayer stopped was a quiet hope. It wasn't a flashy or grand emotion, but a warm ember that gently warmed my heart. I begin my day with that ember in my arms, believing that the people I meet, the streets I pass, and the small words and actions I offer can all become paths of light.
The message that came to me from today's meditation was clear. My longing for a world filled with light spread with compassion within me, and that heart was already connected to the world. My prayer, though small, became an undying wave, resonating deep within the universe. And within that resonance, I found the courage and peace to face a new day.
