  1. Estrogen
  2. Environmental hormones
There is a high risk that the drinking water (tap water) we consume every day is mixed with estrogenic substances (fake female hormones), including EE2 , an ingredient in oral contraceptives.
The reasons are as follows.
1.
Outstanding survivability: EE2, an ingredient in birth control pills, is designed to be very robust so that it does not easily break down in the body to maintain efficacy. Even after being excreted through urine, this ingredient does not break down easily in the environment and survives for up to several years.
2.
Limitations of water treatment facilities: While urban water purification facilities are excellent at removing bacteria and viruses, they are very weak at filtering out fine estrogenic chemicals such as EE2.
3.
The vicious cycle of water recycling: In cities with high population density or those with a shortage of freshwater that require continuous water recycling, hormones released by people continue to circulate through the water quality system, leading to abnormally high concentrations of EE2 in drinking water.
As a result, if we drink tap water without purifying it, we end up drinking a little bit of fake hormones released by someone else every day.
The key to avoiding estrogens remaining in drinking water is to use household water filters and avoid plastic containers .
Essential use of water filters: While standard urban water treatment facilities are excellent at removing bacteria and viruses, they are very weak at filtering out fine astrogenic chemicals such as EE2. Therefore, to ensure safety, do not drink tap water directly; you must pass it through a water filter capable of removing chemicals .
Caution regarding plastic water bottles: Since aestrogenic molecules can easily leach into water or beverages stored in plastic, it is advisable to avoid drinking water or beverages stored in plastic containers.
The key to avoiding fake female hormones (estrogens) in products that come into contact with your skin every day, such as cosmetics, shampoo, and soap, is to carefully check the ingredient list.
Avoid 'Fragrance': If the ingredient list simply states 'Fragrance,' there is a very high possibility that hormone-disrupting preservatives such as parabens or phthalates are hidden within. Whenever possible, choose unscented products that do not contain artificial fragrances.
Antibacterial Soap Caution: Detergents or soaps with emphasized antibacterial functions often use estrogenic ingredients such as triclosan or APE. Bacteria are sufficiently removed by washing with regular soap alone.
Filtering UV rays: Ingredients such as BP (benzophenone) or 4-MBC, which are commonly found in chemical sunscreens, are hormone disruptors and must be avoided.
Caution regarding plant-based estrogens: If shampoos or lotions contain lavender, flaxseed, or soybean extracts, it is best to avoid them, as plant-based estrogens are absorbed directly through the skin.
